4 Must-Read Children’s Books to Learn About Climate Change and Environmental Issues

As the world faces pressing environmental challenges, it is crucial to educate children about sustainability and inspire them to care for the planet. Here are four must-read children’s books that teach kids about climate change and environmental issues:

• “The Great Kapok Tree“ by Lynne Cherry: This book tells the story of a man who enters the Amazon rainforest with the intention of cutting down a large kapok tree. He has a change of heart when he learns about the animals and plants that depend on the tree for survival.
• “Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth” by Oliver Jeffers: A father explains the beauty and complexity of the world to his son, encouraging children to be mindful of their impact on the environment.
• “One Plastic Bag: Isatou Ceesay and the Recycling Women of the Gambia” by Miranda Paul: This true story follows Isatou Ceesay, who recycled plastic bags into purses, providing a solution to the plastic waste problem in her community.
• “The Watcher: Jane Goodall’s Life with the Chimps” by Jeanette Winter: This biography of Jane Goodall introduces children to the concept of animal conservation and Goodall’s efforts to protect chimpanzees and their habitat.
